The SFCA Annual Meeting held on December 5th included the election of three Directors to the SFCA Board. Ray Trankle was newly elected to serve as a Director. Robert Cunningham and Michelle Theis, current Directors, were re-elected to serve. Directors begin serving their terms January 2018.

The volunteer Trails Committee including Trail Monitors and Trail Posse members was reformed in November. Monthly trail inspections will be made on all 52 trail heads. Reports are generated for hired Landscapers to repair items such as impassable or dangerous trails and another report for Posse volunteers to tackle minor issues such as filling animal holes and defining trails. Our intent is to have the natural trails safe and in good condition for hikers to enjoy by early February 2018. Homeowners cannot make changes to the trails or common areas. To report any trails issues, or would like to join the Posse, please email the committee at

This is a fun event promoting cheer, goodwill and peace to all. Your participation is welcome! Let’s work together to keep this a success that can become a Superstition Foothills tradition!

View fence painting is scheduled to resume the week of November 6th, starting in the Desert Trails II neighborhood.  Homeowners will receive a notice in the mail a couple weeks prior to fence painters coming to their neighborhood.  Painters will then post a notice on homeowner’s garage door a few days before arrival to paint the fence. There is not a posted schedule, as we cannot predict the weather or how fast the painters will complete each neighborhood.   View Fence painting is a 2-year project.  <View Fence Painting Order>

Pinal County Animal Control will make unscheduled visits to the Recreation Center park area, neighborhoods and trails. They will give owners of ‘at large’ dogs warnings to leash and control them whenever they are off their property. AC Officers also have the ability to issue owners a rather pricey ticket for non-compliance of the At Large law and/or for not picking up after your dog. Also, please be aware of the recent rabies epidemic in Pinal County where two fox have tested positive. Animals with rabies can be aggressive and attack both people and pets. Ensure your dog has been vaccinated for rabies. Please take responsibility for caring for your pets and help to make our neighborhoods, park and trails safe and enjoyable for everyone!

Two owls were recently shot in our neighborhood. If anyone witnesses someone shooting at owls, dove or ANY birds or wildlife, get an address and contact Operation Game Thief at AZ Game & Fish Department at 1-800-352-0700 to report the violation.

Did you know that feeding wildlife can change the animals’ activity levels and metabolic rates, reduce the size of their home range, and increase both intra- and inter-species aggression? People like to feed birds, and some even put feed out for deer, coyote and javelina. They do it for their own pleasure and, sometimes, under the misguided impression they are helping hungry animals. There are many reasons why feeding wildlife is almost always a bad idea, both for animals and for us.

I want to take a moment to thank you for allowing me to serve this great community for the past 13 years in one form or another, including serving as your President. It’s been a wonderful experience and an honor to serve. My objectives were to keep property values high and costs at a reasonable rate. With the help of my Board members and volunteer residents, I think we have achieved these goals.
