The SFCOA Little Free Library held its grand opening on March 10th, inside the pool enclosure on the east portico. There was an enthusiastic turnout for this new Superstition Foothills opportunity. Our Little Free Library enters us into a literacy movement with more than 50,000 such libraries in neighborhoods, community centers, and businesses around the world.

Last year Superstition Foothills faced some challenging events that continue to impact us this year. In June we lost our landscaper who had served the community well for more than six years; then in July a violent monsoon storm knocked down trees and damaged many homes. A landscape education class concentrating on the Superstition Foothill plant pallet, how to select healthy plant material at a nursery and where residents can find landscape related resources and information will be held on April 20, 2018 at 9:00 am at the Pool area. Future class information will be sent via email or posted to the bulletin board.

Daylight hours continue to get longer as we approach the first day of Spring. This brings warmer temperatures and plants emerging from their Winter dormant period. Of course these conditions are also excellent for weeds!

The volunteer Trails Committee including Trail Monitors and Trail Posse members was reformed in November. Monthly trail inspections will be made on all 52 trail heads. Reports are generated for hired Landscapers to repair items such as impassable or dangerous trails and another report for Posse volunteers to tackle minor issues such as filling animal holes and defining trails. Our intent is to have the natural trails safe and in good condition for hikers to enjoy by March 2018. Homeowners cannot make changes to the trails or common areas. To report any trails issues, or would like to join the Posse, please email the committee at

The Activities Committee would like to thank everyone for participating in all the 2017 Superstition Foothill events! You have made our community activities great fun and successful – KUDOS!!

The form is posted on site, select Owners Information tab, COA Documents or contact Kinney Management. Gates can be wood stained or painted the same base color as your house. When painting the mailbox pedestal use only Dunn Edwards Paint – Brittlebush Flat SP2740. An $8.00 quart will provide 2 coats of paint.
